Amy Scheuring

Amy Scheuring has been answering the tough questions young people ask about sex for over 15 years. Her strong abstinence message has affected the lives of thousands of teens and parents in both public and religious settings. Amy's Chastity Challenge Cards have been used nationwide as a tool to promote chastity. Relying on timeless biblical truths, Amy builds a solid logical argument for choosing sexual purity in a world that promotes "have it your way" sex.

"I believe in young people," Amy says. "Most think that they are just a bundle of raging hormones. But they are capable of making wise healthy choices. They care about their future." Many who have heard the talk agree. "Amy brings kids a logical alternative: Abstinence with no 'buts,' no condoms, no excuses, just the truth," says a local youth worker. After a recent high school assembly, a student remarked, "I thought she was going the be the typical 'church lady' preaching to us and saying sex is bad, but she was great and really funny. And everything made sense."

A very warm and relational person, Amy interacts with her audience to pull everyone into the talk. "This is an intimidating topic, so I do all I can to help the group feel comfortable," she says. "Together, we can look at the gift of sexuality in a non-threatening way."

Amy has the upbeat, hopeful message your next parents' group or teen event needs.

After receiving her Masters' Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh, Amy became the founding Director of the North Pittsburgh Pregnancy Care Center. Amy, along with a hard-working volunteer staff, saw almost 1,000 women through a time of crisis in their lives. "We saw so many young people facing an unexpected pregnancy," she remembers, "I knew we needed to reach students before they began to experiment with sex. That's what motivated me to go out to the schools and youth groups."

In 1990, Amy left the Center to be a full time mom while continuing to build an outreach called A is for Abstinence. A wife and mother of two, Amy is also the Project Coordinator for Wholehearted, a purity ministry in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After years of speaking engagements to thousands of teens and parents, her message is still fresh, vibrant, and full of conviction.
